Graphite brings a simplicity of colour to the image that helps you to focus on the person. I concentrate the drawing on the eyes particularly, the features, and the hair. The clothes are usually more lightly sketched in so that you are really concentrating on the personality of the sitter.
Pencil Drawings
People often prefer graphite pencil drawings to paintings, because they are soft and intimate.

Coloured pencil is a medium that has really developed over the last few years and a lot of my clients have really loved the results.
Charcoal
Charcoal can be a very evocative medium because you can achieve very dark tones, so if you would like your portrait to be very intense, with a lot of feeling of movement, it is a very good choice.
